Annabeth was at the race track, along with the people she'd be competing against. It was actually a little funny, considering she was shorter than the rest of them. Her horse was a bit smaller, too.

Laiea and Scarlet were both wearing matching red collared shirts, black jeans, and pink boots. Tessa wore ratty jeans, a white tshirt, and sneakers.
"Everybody knows that your supposed to wear boots not sneakers to horse shows." Scarlet rolled her eyes.
"Well I'm not everybody." Tessa snapped.

Suddenly, an announcer spoke. "Alright! All racers must report to the gates!"
All the riders, including Annabeth, rode their horses to the starting gates, ready to race.

"What's the unsetting part?" Maddie frowned.

"At least we get a tent," The little girl said. "That's already pretty much better than my life at home." She stabbed some supposedly mac-and-cheese and ate it.

"That's.....bad." Maddie said. She looked at the announcer in the iris-message. "I'll talk to you later. You seem busy. I also have to get to work on the time machine."

Annabeth nodded. "I'll talk to you later."
"Be quiet, Chase!" Another rider shouted.
Annabeth glared at them.
"Get set... go!" The announcer said.
The riders took off. Annabeth looked pathetic at first, as her horse, which was smaller than the rest, wasn't quite as fast. But suddenly, towards the end, Annabeth was in the lead. She crossed the finish line before anyone else.

Maddie tried working on the time machine with all she could scavenge, but she felt like there was a hole in her stomach. She really, really hoped they would get there before her death occurred. It was too scary. She kept working until it was the evening, and she barely got anywhere.

"Yeah, I do." Maddie said. "I mean, once I created an evil robot that destroyed ten planets in another solar system. And another time when I was angry, I created a big machine that if I pressed a button would take over the world. I never pressed the button. My dad talked me out of it." Maddie huffed, back to mixing materials. "I guess now it's better I didn't press the button. You know, the whole world would be gone if I did."

The little girl didn't say anything.

Maddie didn't say anything else as she worked.

Suddenly, a loud siren blared.
"Battle positions!! This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill! Get your guns! I mean now!! Go, go, GO!!" The big man from yesterday bellowed.

Maddie nervously kept working. Even though you really wish you wouldn't succeed on the time machine, do it for Percy, Maddie thought. He's trapped in your little cruel world right now.

The little girl jumped to her feet. "This isn't good," She muttered. "The Hessians are invading." She grabbed her gun and ran out of the mess hall.

(Sorry if I'm slow to respond, my computer keeps crashing)

Maddie spilled some acid on her thumb. "Oh, gods ow." She muttered, as the acid ripped apart her skin. The acid spilled on the floor, and seemed to trickle to the colorful puddle. Then, it formed into a bubble, and created the time machine. "Hey, awesome sauce!" Maddie exclaimed, grinning.

"Get ready!!" The big man yelled. "They'll be here any second!"
The little girl loaded her gun, looking fearless.
