"Okay!" Maddie's dad said. He slammed the door, and came out about one minute later with something. "Not sure if it's stable....but.....try it anyways!"

Maddie tried to grip on. Daniel watched, wondering when it would finally break or Maddie would crack. Maddie was on the edge of just letting go.

Just let go, Maddie thought. JUST. LET. GO. She let one hand slip. She dangled from the other hand. The railing creaked and swang, hanging by a wire. It was about to crack any second.

Maddie didn't say anything. She seemed paralyzed in fear. For only a few moments. Daniel swung his sword to kill Leo, but Maddie flung her arm in the way. A deep, bloody gash immediately formed.

Maddie looked like she was going to help Daniel, but then coldness grew in her eyes. "Save yourself, jerk."

Maddie was silent. She fell for the same thing, twice. It hurt even more the second time. Was she seriously this stupid? Sure, she thought. You guys might trust me. But I don't trust you.
