"You didn't do anything." Maddie said. "Everyone else did. Would you really trust everyone after falling for the same trick, twice? I feel awful, Leo. I feel like I'm so stupid...like, I just keep assuming whoever I meet won't try to kill me. But whenever things go too well, I always end up trying to be killed."

"Maddie, things aren't always going to be bad. And they won't always be good, either. But just because something good happens, it doesn't mean that something bad will happen right after. You can't go on thinking that bad things will keep happening. They're bad because you see them as bad things. If you thought about it carefully, you'd realize that in every bad situation, there is a good thing that will follow. Not everything you think is just bad. It could be good, too, but it's you who has to make it good." Leo said.

Like, a rebel....ran out of the hotel....stuffed a doorman in a closet...the security STILL after me, never to be seen.....okay, so maybe I can make something good out of that. But that doesn't mean everything is okay."

Maddie walked back to her cabin, too. It was getting late. But she stayed on the porch, staring at the sky. "You....you can never do anything right, can you?" Maddie muttered to herself. "No, you can't. You always mess everything up."

Maddie fell out of her bed, dropping her teddy bear. "Mr. Snuggles!" Maddie exclaimed, picking up her teddy bear. "Are you okay?" She sat Mr. Snuggles back on her bed, patting it's matted felt head. "Come in!" She yelled.

Maddie dragged Mr. Snuggles behind her. No, she thought. You aren't okay, are you? You didn't get over it. No, I didn't. She thought. But who cares, anyways? It's just some stupid feelings. She felt like a little girl again, all alone, except three hundred years later.

Maddie stared up at the trees. She began climbing up one. She sat Mr. Snuggles down next to her on a branch. She swung her feet around, thinking. Then, out of the blue, anger boiled up inside of her. She wasn't just mad, she was furious. She shoved Mr. Snuggles off the tree branch, and threw down a stick after him. She snapped back to her normal self, her eyes wide. Why did she do that to something as harmless as Mr. Snuggles? Oh no, she thought. The prophecy is true. You will get angry of being pushed around. And you will be out to kill everything.
