"Go!" Maddie commanded to Al.
Al nodded. He picked Annabeth up and darted out of Tartarus. Maddie stood there for a moment, then sat down. What did she just do? They would KILL Al at camp! No, she thought. If they dare touch Al, she'll kill them. But how would she? She was no longer strong. The River of Styx wore off.

Al kept running, even though he was freezing cold. He ran through the camp burier, and sat Annabeth down. He stood there for a moment, wondering what to do.


Maddie sat on her butt and cried. Whatever. She was alone in Tartarus. She could do whatever until she died. After all, people were going to think that. Al had a note. Hopefully he remembered to give it.

Al just stood there. Who would he give the note to? Not Leo. He would kill Al. It was for Hamburger Queen. But he had to. He knocked on Leo's door, which felt like an earthquake. He set the note down, and stepped backwards.

The note said: 'Leo, if you are reading this, that means Al isn't as big as an airhead as I thought he was. Don't tell him I said that. He thinks I'm awesome, which happens once in a lifetime for me. ANYWHO, also if you are reading this, it means I'm dead. I went to Tartarus to save Al, because I killed him. Just tell everyone I'm dead, 'kay? Ok, thanks. Byeeeeeee. : )'

Al thought for a moment, pondering what Leo's words meant. He nodded, and tore off the sign on Maddie's door. How could he be able to speak to demigods? Maybe he would have to learn. He knew so many things about Maddie, but how could he tell Leo?

Al pointed where Annabeth was laying, then thought about some words Maddie said. She acted like they were important. He tried repeating them:
"'I think I'll name you almost. Because you're almost scary. And I'm......almost happy. You'll be Al for short.'" Al repeated aloud, sounding strangely like Maddie, although still like a minotaur, his voice growly and raspy.

Al thought for a moment. 'You can talk?' What did he mean? Daniel ran out of his cabin. "What?!? AHH!!!" He screamed in horror, staring at Al. "What's....what's that THING doing back here?!?"
"You..... can talk." Al repeated, in a voice sounding kind of like Leo's. "Daniel!"
Daniel screamed. "HE CAN TALK?!"
"He can talk." Al confirmed in a voice like Daniel's.
"AHH!!!" Daniel screamed.
