Maddie laid on her bed, thinking about the Rite of Passage. What was Aphrodite going to think up next? She fell asleep in a pool of cold sweat....
Maddie had a terrible night. She had an awful dream. She was standing alone in the New York street, many people walking by, sneering awful names at Maddie when she tried to say something.
"Devil child."
"Freak of Nature."
"Worthless."
"Who was the monster? Al, or you?"
Maddie woke up, sobbing louder than she ever did before.
