Daniel nodded. "Of course, she doesn't tell anyone. The last time she did that to me, I got hit by a truck. And when I woke up, I was in the hospital, and she was eating a taco and babbling about something. So you can tell how nervous it gets me when she hides stuff."

Maddie was in her cabin, her face in between her knees. She was crying a little, but very softly.

Daniel nodded. "Yeah, that's probably because Percy's unconscious."

Maddie sat on her bed, replaying What Can I Say over and over on her phone, which she fixed with a little tape and glue, and only twice she got electrocuted and fainted.

Maddie finally got sick of the song. She pressed her pillow over her head, and laid down on her face on her bed.

"Night." Daniel said. He looked down at his phone, and sighed. He was glad Leo just left, suddenly. He hung his head and walked to his cabin, trying to not let the message bug him.


Maddie didn't sleep at all that night. She was too worried about the end of summer. She spent most of the night crying, and feeling like her stomach was tied in knots.

Maddie stayed in her cabin until the afternoon, then groggily got out.
"Hey, where were you yesterday?" Daniel asked.
Maddie turned to run back to her cabin, but Daniel grabbed her arm. "C'mon, stop spending so much time in there. What's bugging you?"
"Nothing." Maddie whispered.
"Maddie, there's dried tears and pringle dust on your face and hair. I think something's wrong." Daniel said.
Maddie shook her head. "You...you don't want to know. So stop asking me, ok?"

"Maddie, we just want to help you. It scares me when you keep stuff secret." Daniel said.
Maddie remained silent.
"So now you won't even talk to me." Daniel sighed.
