When Percy wouldn't follow her, Laeia dragged Percy to the pool and shoved him in and swam around, getting soaked because it was no fun not getting wet.

Young-Maddie was climbing up a tree with her knife in her mouth. "Whee! My parents never allowed me to do this!!"
"Maddie, we have to take her back. C'mon." Maddie's dad said. "We'll rip a hole in the space time continuum."
"Maybe I'll save her from ripping a hole in her heart. Dad, please?" Maddie said.

Maddie's dad frowned, when Maddie saw the little girl hanging on top of the tree. "Hey! Don't do anything stupid and dangerous!" Maddie said. She paused. "Without me!! Hold on, I'm coming up!" Maddie climbed up the tree and hung upside down next to Young-Maddie. She grinned. "Ha. Two idiots on a branch."

Annabeth sighed. "If they were real, they would exist in a completely different universe much more complex than our own. Also, nobody could say what aliens look like, as they have not yet been discovered. Technology isn't even advanced enough to find aliens, anyway. But scientists are sure that they couldn't possibly exist."

The branch fell, and the girl fell with it. Maddie frowned. "You okay?"
The girl got up, dirt and blood on her face. "Are you kidding?! That was awesome!"
"You LIKE to almost die?" Maddie said.
"WE like to almost die, remember?" The girl smiled. "It's a Maddie thing."
Maddie slowly nodded, and grinned. "Coming down below!" She jumped off the tree.
