Maddie didn't say anything. Her brain was racking thoughts, pulling out thought binders and throwing them all over the floor frantically. She got an image in her head, with little brain people screaming and throwing things around, passing them to each other and swearing. Then the ground began shaking. The flames didn't stop yet, though.

Maddie coughed, and it felt like her gut was twisting into tensed knots. She moved her hands to her stomach, grasping it, and trying to stop the pain. Then she released them. Do whatever you like to get them out alive, she thought. Her breath was so loud, that was all she could hear, but it suddenly stopped. The flames froze, and shattered. Maddie broke about every law of physics by making them do that. The air turned back to normal, and the smoke cleared.
