Daniel squeezed the muffin, running to Tartarus as fast as he could. Was he too late? Or would Maddie still not accept going back? When he got inside, he almost died in fear. Maddie was lying on the floor, looking ten times more pale. Her hair looked dark brown, and there was more blood everywhere than Daniel thought a grown elephant could carry.

Daniel held the muffin tightly. "I hope the muffin works." He muttered. He tried moving Maddie so he could give her the muffin, but he was afraid if he touched one of her wounds, it would hurt. Then he realized everywhere was a wound.
