Daniel frowned. "You may want to pay attention to this..." He lowered his voice. "She told me that for Aphrodite kids there's something called 'the rite of passage.' It's where you make someone fall in love with you, then deliberately break their heart. She said she hated the idea, and then Aphrodite got mad, because that's what you have to do to make Aphrodite like you. Maddie yelled at Aphrodite, saying she would never break Leo's heart, or frankly anyone's. But now Aphrodite is trying to curse Leo.....and every boy Maddie even LOOKS at. Including me." Daniel sighed. "Although I don't know why, because Maddie threw up one time when a boy asked if she loved me."

Daniel was deep in thought, then got a thought that almost made him faint. What if...what if Maddie decided to go with Aphrodite's plan and break Leo's heart?! That would be awful. Leo and Maddie were his best friends.

"And I'm sure Aphrodite has something devious planned...even worse than killing me and Leo. Maddie is not scared of her mom, except when she told her about The Rite of Passage. After Aphrodite explained that, Maddie told her, and I quote: 'Dude, go to Hades.'" Daniel said, imitating Maddie in a dead-on squeaky but tough voice.
