Hades was talking to Leo quietly, but Annabeth could tell that Leo didn't seem to care. He thought he saw some people in the shadows, but he decided that there weren't any people there.

Leo looked around, then he focused on Maddie, Annabeth, and Daniel. He knew they were hiding there.

Maddie froze. Of course. Hades put Leo under the evil-spell sort of thing. "Of course you are." She said, trying not to sound like she was scared. "We have to get back to camp."

Maddie stared for a moment. How could she fight Leo? No, she told herself. Don't think like that. You aren't really fighting Leo....was she? "No." She said shakily. "But to Hades with me if I can't." She took out her sword.

Maddie stumbled backwards from the fire. Oops. She forgot about the fire. Fear rose over her.
"Hey, no one beats her up but me! Permission to kill him?!" Daniel growled.
"No..." Maddie whispered. "Don't. I can...I can do this..."
"No, you can't. I'm serious Maddie...." Daniel said.
Maddie slowly tried getting up, but it hurt. She held on to her sword, letting the power surge cover her.

"Maddie!" Daniel yelled. "You got this! Just......I don't know! Be yourself!"
Maddie rolled her eyes. "Great words of wisdom..." She muttered.
Daniel was quiet for a moment. "Remember the past."
Maddie felt a surge of anger. The past....so much hatred. She got to her feet slowly, and held up her sword.

Leo glared at Maddie. "You can't beat me." He looked at Annabeth, who was gripping her sword. He thought for a moment. Then he charged at Annabeth, sending flames toward her.

"I'm gonna kick your @#*" Maddie whispered. She charged at Leo, fear draining out of her. It wasn't the River of Styx. It was bravery. She tackled him, and held her sword at his throat.

"You got that right." Maddie whispered. She didn't admit it, but out of everyone she was the most afraid of herself. But it wasn't because she had a sword. It was because of something she tried to forget. "Go ahead and kill me. But I'll whip your butt if it's the last thing I do."

"Oh my gods....I'm like, the Maddie whisperer!" Daniel exclaimed, grinning. "Maddie, finish him off!"
Maddie looked at Leo for a moment. She had so much hate she wanted to show off. So much things that people should be paying for right now. But she just couldn't do it. The Aphrodite-love side of her sickened herself. But she got off Leo and stood up.

"Mkay." Maddie said, but she still looked wary. It wasn't because of Leo, though. Daniel brought up too much, even though he saved her. "And Daniel, don't ever pull that trigger again, because you never know when the gun might just be pointing at you, if you know what I mean." Maddie said. She put her sword into her sheath.
Daniel nodded. "Uh, okay."
"Then let's get out of here before Hades comes back." Maddie said.

"Close the door!" Maddie snapped.
Daniel closed the door. "I'm just worried about you."
"I wish someone would just tear my heart out already. I'm sick of it! I can't take it anymore!" Maddie cried. "Get out of my cabin!"
Daniel hurried out of her cabin. "Whoa."
