Bailey just nodded and said, "Hi," the way she did with Charlie. She kept looking at Oliver. "I'm sorry . . . but . . . " she gestured at his eyes.
Christiana whispered something to Bailey, who looked really uncomfortable. She just nodded, looking like she regretted asking.
"When one sense is taken away, the other senses are heightened." Oliver spoke for the first time. His voice was soft and oddly charming, like a schoolboy that all the girls had crushes on. "Having TWO senses taken away . . . well . . . that's just some bad luck, isn't it?"
"Oliver, I'm so sorry," Maddie started apologizing profusely. "If I'd known-"
"Oh, it's okay," Oliver said, as if Maddie had simply stepped on his foot.
Bailey never looked away from Oliver.

Moon studied the picture, looking a little bothered, but continued. " . . . Yes, actually. There is a girl named Tara, have you heard of her?" Tara was one of the most famous children of Apollo at camp. Aside from her snarky jokes, she was typically polite and was the most talented healer currently residing at camp.
"Yes, I have heard of her. But I have never met her." Yhgiilra replied, now paying more attention to what Moon had to say, and closing her sketchbook for now. "Why do you ask? Because if you're wondering where she is, I honestly do not know."

"No, she needs to speak with you," Moon said. "She's in the Apollo cabin."
"Well?" Christiana asked Charlie quietly as he stood up.
" . . . The surgery to restore his vision would be incredibly risky," Charlie said, "but doable. He would need fake eyeballs, of course, which wouldn't look natural but he could wear sunglasses if he's bothered by that. It's up to him and his family, I guess."
"How big of a risk?" Oliver asked.
"Approximately eighty percent chance of death."
"Let's do it."

"Hey, like I always say, 'how much worse could it possibly get?' Not much, guys. Not much," Oliver said.
"Oliver . . . is that your name?" Bailey said quietly.
" . . . If you're referring to the tragically handsome boy with metal eyes, then yes, that is my name," Oliver said.
"Can we talk outside?" Bailey asked.
Maddie scowled. "That's not a good-"
"Sure," Oliver said.

Dan raised an eyebrow at Bailey, and he almost said something before he stopped himself.
"Something about you looks different, " Leo said, still staring Dan down.
"Well, you haven't seen me in a few weeks," Dan muttered.

"Charlie!" Maddie protested.
"Then can go," Charlie said.
Bailey and Oliver walked out the door, Oliver limping slightly.
Christiana looked at Dan. "He doesn't look different."

Maddie seemed too stressed to care, talking to Charlie in a hushed voice.
"Leo's noticed, apparently," Christiana said. "And, you know, there are more important things, like my brother dying. But, sure, you look different, that's cool." She sounded anxious, like Maddie, but more angry than sad.

"It probably will," Christiana said quietly. "And he's so lonely, I can't imagine what he's had to do . . . oh my gods, what HAS he done? He didn't have anybody to take care of him or love him for so long."
"We'll get him a therapist," Charlie said. "Guys, you're making a really big deal out of this."
"You're not making a big enough deal," Maddie said angrily. "He has no idea how to deal with social settings."

Dan sighed, yawning. 'I really need to get back to my apartment now. I'll see you later." He walked off without another word.
"I'm really starting to hate him," Leo muttered.

Charlie watched Dan go. "He's just sad," he said. "People aren't themselves when they're sad."
"I'm pretty ******* sad, too," Christiana said, "but at least I don't walk out on people."

"Well, alright then." Yhgiilra said and shrugged. Without another word to Moon she turned in the direction of the Apollo cabin and began walking at a fast pace in that direction. She had no idea why she would need to talk to anybody. That almost never happened. Except for when she'd get in trouble for doing random things that were considered "mean" or "violent."

Tara was inside the Apollo cabin, yelling, "Everyone stay calm!"
"You all have it a good here, living at camp," Charlie said. "You don't know what Dan does for a living. You don't know where he lives. He could very well be in H*ll and you'd say it's okay because at least he's warm."

Yhgiilra heard the shouts in the cabin and a small smirk tugged at her lips. But as she approached the cabin fully and slowly walked in, she faked a concerned expression so she wouldn't give everyone a bad impression. Her large eyes scanned the area around her, since she had never seen this cabin before, and she wanted to know what was the cause of such panic.
She looked towards Tara and waited a few moments before walking towards her, close enough to be able to say "You needed to talk to me?" and actually be heard despite her quiet voice.

"A virus just broke out." Tara rubbed her forehead. "It hasn't proven fatal yet, although it's incredibly painful. I thought you'd have something to do with it."
"Maybe he is," Charlie said. "But you could have a job, too, if you tried as hard as he does."

"I have a bad reputation in your book already, do I?" She said with a sarcastic sigh, "Well, it'll surprise you to know that I had nothing to do with it, nor do I know who was involved."
