Celeste blushed, and smiled a little. "Hehe, thanks."
"Well, you know how Charlie and I...grew up together..." Maddie blushed a little, and hoped Leo didn't notice. "Uh, anyway, Willow lived longer than all of us because she didn't die for a while. She died while giving birth. That child had another child, and so on, until....well, until Annabeth was born. Apparently Willow is somehow related to Annabeth, as Charlie is somehow related to Annabeth."

"I'm just thinking about that Steve guy," Celeste said quietly. "I'm sort of scared of meeting him again. Sometimes I wonder if it was worth it agreeing to this. Maddie is going to treat us the same either way; like we're her inferiors."
Maddie smiled, but there was a noticeable, faded look in her eyes, as if her irises were bright green glass someone had shattered.

Maddie frowned, and before she could say anything else, a crack of thunder whipped across the sky.
Celeste flinched. "Oh, great."
Maddie put her hands over her ears, looking like she was going to have a heart attack. "J-just stay calm. I-"
Suddenly, it began pouring rain, and Willow was mostly soaked in a few moments. "Rain? In a California desert? Something isn't right."

Annabeth kept walking close to Celeste, feeling uncomfortable, like she was supposed to take off running like a wild animal in danger. She shook off the feeling the best she could, wondering what could possibly be making the gods angry.
Leo walked next to Maddie, blushing.

Celeste held Annabeth's hand, and had to shout over the growing wind. "It'll be okay!"
For once, Maddie's curly hair was perfectly straight, soaked and at her waist. The rain started growing so heavy it hurt against her bare arms, and it started getting hard to see. Maddie thought she heard Willow shout a swear.
