In the distance, there was desperate, high-pitched shrieking.
Celeste held Annabeth's hand, and fell asleep soon.

Zoe heard the screaming, and she ran all over the woods, hoping to find whoever was screaming.

"Are you really that clueless?" Charlie sounded frustrated. "Daniel apparently 'likes' you. When he found out I was getting Maddie, he said he wanted me to kidnap you or else he'd tell everyone."
All of a sudden, it got eerily quiet.
Celeste woke up before Annabeth, but fell back asleep when she saw Annabeth was still sleeping.

Harry suddenly stepped out from behind a tree, glaring at Zoe. "Stop making so much noise."

Charlie was silent, but a few minutes later he came in through the window, looking angry. "It's not that easy, Valdez."
Harry took out his sword, but Daniel stepped out, frowning. "We don't want her, Harry."
"Right," Harry muttered, putting his sword away.
"You definitely don't sound fine," Celeste said.

Zoe didn't say anything. She just blushed even harder when she saw Daniel.

"Great," Daniel said. He suddenly pulled Maddie out from behind a tree, who was tied up with duct tape on her mouth.

Maddie began moaning, her forehead bleeding severely.

Maddie woke up a few hours later in a dark room. Charlie had dragged Zoe and Leo there, too. Maddie had blood pouring out from her forehead, and her leg looked broken.
"I'll just miss her a lot," Celeste said quietly.
