Annabeth hesitated, but then she said, "Okay."
"Of course not," Annabeth said.
(Aww, bye!)

"You don't even know me," Annabeth said quietly.
"I still don't like him," Annabeth said.

"My ceiling?" Annabeth asked, laughing a bit.
"Yeah, she would," Annabeth said.

Annabeth smiled, but a small spider crawled out of a corner, and she began to cry.
"Definitely," Annabeth said.

Annabeth continued to cry, not seemingly to care that the spider was gone.
"It sure is," Annabeth muttered. "But it's nice to know that she cares so much."

"They've always bothered me," Annabeth said, tears streaming down her face.
"Like what?" Annabeth asked.
(Aww, bye!)

"Arachne?" Annabeth asked, looking scared.
"Maddie's kinda... special," Annabeth said.

Annabeth frowned. "Don't call me that."
"Same," Annabeth muttered. "I don't get how I had even stayed asleep that one time she let me use her bed because..." Her voice trailed off. She wasn't sure if she should mention it in front of Celeste.

Annabeth nodded, looking a bit sad. "Okay."
Annabeth smiled a bit. "I try my best to be brave."

The man, who must've been Annabeth's dad, raised an eyebrow. "So the ceiling's okay?"
"I don't plan on it," Annabeth said. "She just doesn't necessarily scare me."

"What?" Maddie blinked. "Oh! Oh, yes, the ceiling. Right. Well, the ceiling is actually..."
She paused. Being a little cruel wouldn't hurt anyone. Actually, it would, but who cares? It's not like anyone would find out. "No, the ceiling isn't okay. Very severe problems, even running through the WALLS." She shivered for affect. "Can you believe that? It's deep in the structures of the walls, places where even highly experienced, fabulous ceiling inspectors like me can't solve. A wall specialist will have to come in."
"It doesn't matter if she scares you or not, she'll kill you," Celeste said.

"Okay, then," The man said.
"I'll make sure she doesn't," Annabeth said.

The man rolled his eyes, and handed Maddie the money.
"She sure is," Annabeth muttered.

"She doesn't need a new book," the man said.
"Maybe," Annabeth said.
