Celeste stood up, pointing her knife at him. "Don't come any closer."
Charlie rolled his eyes. "So untrusting."
"It's not like you've been exactly trustworthy," Celeste said.

Charlie thought he heard something. He frowned, but decided it was nothing. He heard voices sometimes, anyway. "Now you're just being stupid."
"Maybe," Celeste said.
"Leave him alone, Celeste," Maddie said suddenly, looking furious.
Celeste scowled. "You...you're in the infirmary! You lost your memory!"
"Sort of," Maddie admitted, and Celeste noticed Maddie's eyes were flickering yellow. "But now Abby is pretending to be in the infirmary for me. Charlie had the cure."

Celeste slammed her cleaver into Charlie's arm. Charlie backed away, groaning, and Celeste ran off.
"The one time she's violent," Maddie murmured, leaning against a tree.
"Yeah, well. We'll probably get her eventually," Charlie said. "And all the others."

Charlie held his nose, frowning.
"What was it?!" Maddie asked, looking alarmed.
"Something just hit me in the face," Charlie muttered. "Or someone."
Celeste stopped near a tree. She sat underneath it, and made vines and thorns grow in a circle around her, and murmured to herself, "It'll be okay, Celeste. Everything's fine, Celeste. The circle will prevent seabears, Celeste."
