Maddie scowled, watching Annabeth's Pegasus go down towards the water. Without thinking it through, she put down her hands and yelled out after Annabeth.
This is insane, she thought, but her head was soon clouded by the sirens music. She groaned, tempted to jump into the water.

The Pegasus whinnied in surprise.

Leo watched, trying not to panic, when a red dragon swooped down towards Maddie and caught her with its claws. It was Annabeth's dragon, Iros.
Leo grinned, glad to see that Maddie was saved, but Annabeth was still gone.

A boy with brown hair and blue eyes that looked a bit older than them waved. He was tall and muscular, which made Maddie back away immediately, frowning.
"I'm Harry," the boy said, raising his eyebrows at Maddie. "And there's no need to be afraid."
"I'm not afraid," Maddie snapped angrily.
