Maddie tried to turn around to let Annabeth in, but Harry kept walking around the house.
"I only have one guest bedroom, so either you two are sleeping together or someone's on the couch," Harry said, pulling a Sprite out of the fridge.
Maddie's face turned bright red. "I'll go with the couch."

"...I don't know," Harry said.
"You guys can debate on who gets the bed or the couch," Maddie said quietly, putting the empty Sprite bottle down. "I'll sleep on the table or something." Maddie crushed the bottle, and threw it in the trash.
Harry watched Maddie, blushing.

Leo saw Harry blush, and he frowned.
"I get the bed, then," Annabeth said, obviously not caring what Leo thought.

Harry rolled his eyes, still blushing. "There's leftover Halloween candy in the pantry, if you really want it."
"Totally," Maddie said, and ran into the kitchen.

"You guys can go to bed now, if you want," Harry said. "You can sleep wherever, Maddie."
"Wait," Maddie said. "Who's your god parent?"
Harry scowled, and walked away without answering the question.

"I was," Maddie said. "But everybody makes mistakes. It's part of being a demigod, and also part of becoming an adult. Although I'm pretty sure Annabeth is the only one here that is mature enough to become an adult. Annabeth is one of the only humans I can kind of stand sometimes, too, so I doubt I can afford to stay mad at her."

"Please," Maddie rolled her eyes. "I'm basically yolo-ing my way through life. Being a daughter of Hades, occasionally suicidal, and just plain stupid...well, as Effie would say, the odds are not exactly in my favor. Plus, Annabeth didn't ACTUALLY kill herself, just almost. Almost is fine for now."
