A few days later, Annabeth was no longer in the infirmary. She was in her cabin, annoyed by the fact that her lungs didn't work like lungs. She depended on an annoying oxygen tank to breathe, and she was not happy about it.

Maddie was in the woods, arguing with herself.
"You have to go." Maddie said. "No, you can't go. Yes, you have to go. No, you must stay. But you have to go. But you might die. But you might not. Stop it Maddie. You're the one that should stop it. You're crazy! You're crazier!! Stop arguing with me!! No, you stop first! No, you stop first!!" Maddie yelled at herself.

Annabeth heard Maddie, but she didn't want anything to do with whatever she was yelling about. She sighed, and thought about how horrible her life was... at least it was horrible to her.

"You're going to kill yourself on the quest!!" Maddie screamed at herself. "But the whole world will die if you don't!! What has the world ever done for you?! Locked you out?! You can't be mean back, though! I know you want to. But you can't!! But you want to!! Stop being nice and be yourself!!!" Maddie shouted. She banged her head against a tree, and yelled: "Why did I do that?! OW!!!"

"I had to have a oxygen tank once." Maddie said. "I was supposed to have it forever, but I got a bit better, and I was so sick of it, so I pitched it. Sometimes I have little not-being-able-to-breathe attacks, but it's pretty rare."
