Maddie nodded, and looked down the long Tartarus hole. She usually just jumped in it, but she never felt much smaller than today. It felt like she was about to plummet ten thousand feet into the darkness, with no one ready to catch her. For a whole minute, she just stood there, staring down at the hole in fear.

Leo landed hard, breaking his ankle. He winced in pain, but he didn't say anything.
Annabeth landed hard, too, and she hit her head. Everything went black.

Ella took out a white rag and pressed it to Laieas forehead. She watched as the blood stopped. Then she put on a bandaid. She turned Laiea over and got a towel and put it on her back.
"Percy, whats wrong?" Ella asked.

Maddie was about to say something, when she saw Annabeth. "Oh gods..." She muttered. She wanted to help her up, but then she reminded herself everyone she touched-except Leo, which she still couldn't understand- got electrocuted.
