"Well, somebody's salty," Maddie said. "Fine. I won't follow your blog. I probably have more followers than you, anyway."

"Okay but I post dank memes and the world doesn't have enough of an appreciation of that yet," Maddie said, smiling.

"Alright, then," Dan rolled his eyes. "It was nice talking to you."

"Okay, okay, you don't want to talk to me, I get it," Maddie said, backing out of the room. "I'll be in my room. Totally not in the kitchen, eating all the food. Because only a person without self-control would be doing that." She walked away, suspiciously in the direction of the kitchen instead of her room.

Dan sighed, turning on his laptop and going straight to Tumblr.

After going to the kitchen, Maddie stayed in her room for the rest of the day.

"Because Annab - er, he wants to be called Dan now, by the way - is ignoring me," Maddie said.

"So... You're just staying in your room?" Leo asked. "Are you even going to ask him why he's being antisocial?"

"True," Leo said. "But I haven't seen him at all today... or even heard him. Are you sure he's okay?"

"No, I'm not, but he's not my child. It's not my job to make sure he's okay every single second of every day," Maddie said. "He's an adult, he can take care of himself sometimes."

"Fine," Leo said. "You-" he was interrupted by a thud coming from Dan's room. "What was that?"

Maddie threw her hands up in the air. "That was probably Dan dropping dead, because god knows he can't survive a single second by himself!"

Leo rolled his eyes. "No need to be sarcastic," he muttered, opening Dan's door. "...Well, you were kind of right about the dropping to the floor thing."

"Where is he when we need him?" Maddie grumbled, running off to find Charlie.

Maddie came back a few long minutes later, practically dragging Charlie, who's feet didn't seem to be working properly. He usually seemed tired and grumpy, but he seemed physically sick. His hair looked patchy, his skin seemed dry and stretched out, and he looked like he had never slept in his life.
"What's the . . . what's the matter?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes and zipping up his jacket.

Charlie squinted at Dan, letting out a light sigh. "Could be. I'll check him out." He put his arms around Dan as if to lift him, and then when he tried to pull he fell backwards. There was a moment of quiet pause. He didn't get back up.
Maddie cautiously said, "You okay, Charlie?"
Charlie groaned. "Someone else carry him. He weighs a ton."
Maddie approached Dan and attempted to lift him, which she did quite easily. She then carried him to the infirmary, looking wildly concerned.

Dan was trembling slightly and breaking hard, and it seemed like he wasn't fully conscious.
"Dude, what's wrong with you," Leo asked Charlie.
