"Mm-hmm," Maddie said, and took a bite out of a bagel that was randomly in her hand.
"So can you help wit-...wha-why do you have a bagel?!" Charlie asked.
"I stopped at a breakfast place before this," Maddie said. "That's why I'm late."
Charlie took the bagel out of Maddie's hands and threw it on the ground, so Maddie smacked him upside the head. "Bad Charlie. No stealing my bagels."

"I don't think that's the problem," Maddie said. "I just think you're all whiny and need to be lectured. C'mon, you're demigods. Are you seriously going to let Annabeth's snoring get to you? I mean, you made me come here and waited for an hour just for me to get Annabeth to stop snoring. What is that telling you?"
"That you're really nice?" Austin said quietly.
"Mm, no, I'm a jerk, actually," Maddie said. "Still, I shall dishonor all of you. Dishonor. Dishonor on your cow."

"Why do you keep doing that?!" Austin asked, and quickly said, "Wait! Don't hit me! I'm just asking!"
"Because all of you are being brats," Maddie said. "Stupid childish boys."
"We're older than you," Charlie said.
"And you're still more immature," Maddie said.

Maddie rolled her eyes. "Relax, Repair Boy, I'm not going to kill you."
"Right," Austin said slowly.
"As long as you listen to me," Maddie said. "Where are we supposed to be going?"
"Camp Jupiter," Charlie said.
"That's in California," Maddie said. "So we better get moving and stop worrying about Annabeth."

"Sure," Maddie said. She started walking next to Charlie, and they started whispering to each other. When Austin tried to get closer to hear, they just lowered their voices.

A few hours later, it started to rain really hard. Maddie looked annoyed by it, shivering from the coldness of the wind and rain. It was bearable until it started thundering so loudly Maddie's ears rang.

Maddie scowled, and tried to say something, but the rain was too loud, so she gave up. After practically an eternity, Charlie saw what looked like a building. He grabbed the handle and twisted it. When it wasn't locked, he went inside. Austin and Maddie followed him, and it looked like nobody was in there.

The building looked like nobody has been in there for a long time, but it was nice in an ancient sort of way. Dust covered almost everything, and Maddie kept sneezing from it, her sneezes high-pitched and quiet like a kitten's. Charlie kept blushing whenever she sneezed, which was nearly every few seconds.
Austin sat down on a dust-covered velvet chair. "This is creepy."
Maddie sneezed. "Yeah."
