"No problem," Celeste said. "My birthday is on Christmas, so my relatives always gave me a gift that counted for Christmas AND my birthday. So I told my friends for half of my life that my birthday was on June first so they wouldn't combine my gifts."

"Why do you keep saying that?!" Maddie said angrily.
"...I never thought about it that way," Celeste said. "I guess so. A lot of hospitals were closed on Christmas so my mom had to drive for an hour to get me to a hospital. She said it was really unpleasant."
