Maddie glared at Celeste and Annabeth. She suddenly ran to her cabin and slammed the door shut.

Celeste nodded, and walked away.
Maddie was pacing around her room when Hades suddenly appeared.
"What are you doing here?!" Maddie snapped.
"You shouldn't have escaped the underworld," Hades said angrily. "I'm here to give you your punishment."

Annabeth heard Hades, and she ran to Maddie's cabin. She opened the door and stood between Maddie and Hades, looking furious.

"Oh, Annabeth," Hades smiled cruelly. "You're here to watch your friend being punished."
"You can hit me all you want," Maddie said angrily. "I won't-"
"I know hurting you physically doesn't work, Madeline," Hades said. "I have to damage you mentally. Even more than you already are."
Before Maddie could even ask any more questions, Hades snapped his fingers, deleting everybody's memories of Maddie.

"Maddie," Chiron said, giving Maddie a look like 'come here'. "Welcome to Camp Half Blood."
"I didn't tell you my name," Maddie frowned.
"Let's speak in the Big House," Chiron said. "You'll love it here at camp."
Maddie followed Chiron in the Big House nervously.

After a long time, Maddie finally came out of the Big House, looking as nervous as ever. She wanted to spend the rest of the day in her cabin, but in the evening Chiron called all demigods to the campfire.

"We'd like to welcome our new camper, Madeline Hills," Chiron said, glancing at Maddie. "Come up here."
Maddie blushed, and shook her head, covering her face with her hood.
Chiron sighed, and pulled Maddie to the front of the campfire. Maddie hid behind Chiron, frowning shyly.

Celeste saw Annabeth, and she went to sit down next to her.
Chiron glared at Maddie, and pulled her in front of the campfire.
"Uh..." Maddie said quietly. "Hi. You can just call me Maddie..."
"What's it saying?!" An Aphrodite girl asked rudely. "I can't hear the emo!"

Annabeth glared at the Aphrodite girl, completely silent. She looked back at Celeste. "That new girl looks familiar, doesn't she?"

"...Kind of," Celeste said.
"I said I'm Maddie," Maddie said angrily.
Suddenly, a staff made out of a sturdy yet burnt stick appeared in Maddie's hand, with a skull at the sharp end. Her hair was braided with thorn covered vines, and she was wearing a long black dress that seemed to be withering and dying. Dark make-up magically appeared on her face.
"Hey, what do ya know," Charlie said, raising an eyebrow at the Aphrodite girl. "She can kick your butt."
"Shut up," the girl snapped, but half of the campers were in quiet awe.

Maddie pulled up her dress a few inches. It had no shoes under it, but all the grass under her feet was dead.
"Great," Maddie muttered.
"Daughter of Hades," Chiron said loudly.
"Don't say it out loud," Maddie groaned.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood," Chiron said.
"Can I leave now that Hades has embarrassed me?" Maddie asked hopefully.
"No," Chiron said.

"Your cabin is over there," Chiron said, pointing to the Hades cabin and giving Maddie a strange look. "With Nico and Moon."

Maddie covered her wrists with her hands self-consciously, while also trying to cover her face and cross her arms against her stomach.
Chiron began giving Maddie other directions, but Maddie just pulled out a knife and bolted towards the woods.

Celeste followed Annabeth in her cabin. "Are you okay?"
