The lake wasn't completely frozen over, and Celeste groaned. "Maddie, freeze the water!"
Maddie frowned. "But-"
"DO ITTTT!" Celeste whined, stomping her feet. "I want to skate!"
Maddie sighed, and held out her hands near the lake. The water froze over almost instantly, and Celeste squealed in delight. "Are we going to teach Christiana how to skate?"
Maddie laughed. "She can barely walk, Celeste. I don't think so."

Celeste shrugged, and put on her skates. She began doing figure-eights on the ice.
Maddie sat down on a bench, and fed Christiana a bottle. Christiana set her hair on fire, which was black, curly, and already at her shoulders.
Maddie noticed Annabeth watching them, and she waved her over, grinning.

Maddie didn't look at Annabeth again. Celeste continued to skate for a few minutes, until Maddie threw a snowball at her, and they got in a snowball fight. Christiana clapped her teeny hands together, giggling.

Maddie and Celeste tumbled through the snow, laughing.
Abby eventually came out, and gave them a lecture on how taking a baby out in the snow can be dangerous, especially if you leave her unattended.
"Good parenting ends here," Maddie joked, grinning.
Abby threw a snowball at her face, and Celeste immediately bombarded Abby with snow.
