Maddie didn't say anything. She kept walking until she got to camp, then she went into her cabin and locked the door.

Maddie came out of her cabin sometimes, but she seemed occupied. She was always scribbling something in a note pad, and when someone asked what was in it, she would turn away and slap the note pad closed. One day when she was eating at the dining pavilion, someone grabbed it from her.
"Give it back!" Maddie exclaimed, jumping to her feet.
"You'll have to get it!" The boy laughed, waving it up in the air.

Annabeth heard what was going on, and she ran to Maddie. "You better give it back." She said angrily to the boy.

The boy ignored Annabeth. Maddie kept jumping, trying to grab the notepad. "Give it!" She yelled, but she was too short to reach it.
The boy smiled slyly. "You can't even reach it, can you? You're too tiny and short. What's wrong with you, anyways? Is all of your family miniature? Are you a dwarf?"
"There's nothing wrong with being short!!" Maddie yelled.

Annabeth was able to reach the notebook, and she yanked it from the boy's hands. She handed it to Maddie. "Get out of here." She told Maddie quietly.

"What's even in there?" The boy said. "A bunch of secrets?!"
Maddie stepped back, actually looking a bit terrified, and ran to the forest.
