Annabeth ran to the underworld, hoping that Hades would be kind enough to let Maddie live again. She doubted it, but she decided it was worth it to try. She wasn't sure why she was helping Maddie, as she never really cared about anyone else other than Percy, but she couldn't bear to let her die.
