Over the next few days, Leo didn't come out of his cabin. He stayed inside all day, worrying. He still felt like something was wrong, and he knew it had to be really bad.

A lot of people were mean to Maddie, but she pretty much ignored them. Maddie went to the forest a lot and talked to Al, and sometimes for the whole day she stayed in the forest. One day she didn't come back from the forest.

A few days passed, and Leo was still inside his cabin. He noticed that Maddie didn't come back, and he panicked. He ran into the woods, shouting Maddie's name. "Where are you?!" He yelled, trying not to panic, but he was already terrified. What is Maddie was killed? What if she was kidnapped? No, Leo thought. Maddie is fine. But why isn't she coming back? He decided not to think bad thoughts, and he searched for her.

Barely anything hinted that Maddie was there in the forest, but on one single tree there was Maddie's knife stuck inside of it, and some blood splattered not so far away.
