Maddie glanced at Luke. "Chill, fam," she said. "How'd you even find us?"

"This ship's huge," Like said, looking bored while keeping his gun pointed at Annabeth, who was obviously in pain.

Maddie scowled, and called out, "Charlieeee!" like a small child would yell for her mother.
Charlie came out of his room, twisting a lock of dark hair that fell halfway down his neck. He raised an eyebrow at Luke. "So, why'd you shoot her? You still going all Yandere-chan over Annabeth?" He used a high-pitched schoolgirl voice, supposedly imitating Luke. " 'Oh, Chase-senpai, notice me!' " He went back to his regular voice. "Anyway, are you going to leave or are you planning on committing mass homicide?"

Charlie narrowed his eyes at Luke, and almost too calmly said, "Maddie, go tell the others."
Maddie scowled, not looking pleased with the order, but ran to the control room. "Leo!"
"Okay, buddy, I'm going to give you one last chance to get off our ship, or I'll shoot you in the throat," Charlie said to Luke, taking out a pistol.

Leo scowled. "What's going on?"
"Fine, fine," Like muttered. "But don't think I'm not coming back." He disappeared in a puff of black smoke.
Annabeth winced, blood pouring out of her leg.

"Luke's back, and he shot Annabeth," Maddie said.
Disappointed that he didn't get to shoot Luke, Charlie picked Annabeth up and carried her to the ship's infirmary.

Leo scowled. "How badly did he hurt her?"
Annabeth winced again, hoping Charlie wouldn't ask any questions as to why her hair was shorter. She didn't at all feel like explaining.

"I don't know," Maddie said. "Charlie's handling that."
Charlie examined the bullet wound on Annabeth's leg, scowling. After carefully inspecting it, he elevated Annabeth's leg and injected her with anesthetic. "You won't feel as much anymore," he told her. "Also, it'd be best if you closed your eyes, so you don't go into shock or anything. If you feel nausea, dizziness, or your heart beating too quickly, tell me."

Charlie took out a few painfully sharp objects, and started poking at Annabeth's leg. After minutes of prodding cautiously, he retrieved a bullet, coated in blood. He went to the table to put it in a plastic bag, not sure what else to do with it.
"You'll probably need crutches for the next few weeks or so," Charlie said quietly as he stitched together the open wound. "But the bullet looked considerably clean, so the risk of infection isn't abnormally high."

"Remember to keep an eye out for Luke," Charlie said, wrapping a final layer of bandages around Annabeth's leg. "This definitely isn't the last time he's going to pull something like this." He went into a storage room, searching for crutches.

"Dunno. Some girls don't like having a high-pitched voice?" Charlie suggested, organizing some papers. "It doesn't really matter, I was just-" His cellphone cut him off, ringing annoying loud. He rolled his eyes, stepping into the hallway as he started talking into the phone, sounding quite irritated.

"Oh my . . dude, no, no, we can't tell her. How did you even find out, by the way? . . . I'm going pretend you aren't a stalker for the sake of the time being. What did his sister say? . . . Are you watching her right now? . . . Well, why aren't you?! You don't want to have two dead children!" Charlie said, raising his voice. "If it's not my problem, why the Hades did you call me in the first place?!"
