In the envelope, there was a photo of a little bony girl that looked basically like Maddie, except she was wearing a dirty, black funeral dress and had scars across her face, arms, and legs. There were two little boys next to her that looked like Daniel and Charlie, except smaller and more innocent.

Celeste opened the envelope, and a few pictures and letters slid out. She opened the first letter.
"Dear Amelia, I'm sorry I wasn't able to be at the hospital during the birth of the baby. I know she'll be beautiful, like you," Celeste read. "I hope I'll be able to come home and watch her grow up. Love, Jose."
