When they got to the infirmary, Leo layed Maddie down on a bed. He ran out of the room, and back into the woods. "Maybe Daniel could help us." He whispered.

Maddie shifted uncomfortably on the bed, and closed her eyes.


Daniel was near the pond, catching fish. And by catching fish I mean he was sticking his hand in the pond and grabbing them, then letting them go. He didn't like the wait of the original version.

Daniel looked up, and saw Annabeth dangling in a tree.
"Oh, wow. That's going to be hard. Do you need me to get her down..?" Daniel asked.

Leo nodded. "She's like... 40 feet high, so it's gonna be a challenge."

Daniel nodded.
"Yeah, but I'll do it."
He gripped onto the tree and pulled himself up. In about a minute, he was at the top of the tree. He wobbled back and forth, but grasped to the tree so he wouldn't, you know, fall to his doom.

Daniel's foot slipped, but he managed to grab onto a branch at the last moment. As dangerous as this was, he found it fun.
"Ok," Daniel panted. He held out his hand to Annabeth.

Annabeth reached out for Daniel's hand, but right before her fingers met his, the branch snapped apart from the tree, and she fell along with it.

Daniel thought the first thing that popped into his head was crazy, but he had no time to loose. He let go of the tree, feeling as if he was just letting go of his life. He tumbled down faster and faster, hoping he would get down before Annabeth so maybe it would be a softer landing for her.

Leo gasped, and he ran towards Annabeth.

Daniel came tumbling down after her, but he got up after about two seconds. He was covered in bruises, but he didn't look upset. Just worried.
"I'm really sorry!" He apologized immediately. "I didn't...I didn't know the branch would break that fast!"

"It's not your fault." Leo said. He kept replaying the awful cracking sound in his mind.
The branch from the tree had fallen on top of Annabeth, pinning her to the forest floor. Leo shoved the branch off of her, and he was terrified by what he saw.
Annabeth wasn't moving. The cut on her forehead was bleeding greatly, and her back was bent at an odd angle.
"No..." Leo said. He shook her shoulders, but she didn't move.
