Maddie looked eerily calm. "If you'd bother to pay attention to me, maybe you'd know I tried to commit suicide last night, too, and last week, and the week before that, and the week before that. I could show you the wounds and the bottle of pills and the gun but I doubt you want to. And nobody knows, or cares. Why should I care about anybody else? Nobody cares about me."
