Autumn followed them, grabbing the back of Maddie's shirt.
"You don't have to hold onto me," Maddie said. "I'll be here."
"I have to hold onto something," Autumn said quietly.

"Yeah," Autumn said, tugging Maddie closer.
Maddie frowned. She tried to walk around a little, but Autumn would follow her everywhere, occasionally having mini panic attacks.

About an hour later, shouting could be heard in the Athena cabin, and it sounded intense.
"Annabeth, you can't keep hiding this from everybody!" Thyra shouted.
"Well, I'm going to!" Annabeth shouted. "They don't need to know!"

Maddie inched towards the Athena cabin, and pressed her ear against the wall, turning Autumn and her into shadows.
"This is wrong," Autumn whispered.
"Shh. If you don't like it, you can leave," Maddie murmured back, hoping Autumn would finally take the hint and leave Maddie alone.
"No, I still want to stay with you," Autumn muttered. "I just think this isn't right."
