"This doesn't make any sense," Annabeth said. She scanned her surroundings as she set Autumn down. She got an idea of where they were, and she took off towards where the camp would be.

"Annabeth!" Maddie shouted, but her voice trailed off as Annabeth ran farther. She put an arm around Autumn's shoulders, deciding to stay put until Annabeth returned.
Where camp should've been, there were hundreds of teenagers on their knees. Each one of them was guarded with someone with a gun to their head. They were watching a bright screen, most of them crying.
Charlie was on the screen, but his hair was coated with blood and dirt. "Everybody lay down your weapons. Now!"
The guards didn't budge.

A boy looked up, trembling. "We're not allowed to spe-wait! I was just informing her on rules! I can't be pu-"
Before he could finish his sentence, the guard above him shot him in the head twice. There was utter silence, no one daring to let out a sob.
"Is this what we wanted?!" Charlie shouted on the television. "To destroy humanity?! There's less than a million of our kind left. We can't afford to lose one more man."

A guard looked over at Annabeth. It looked like a thickly muscled man, but when it took off it's helmet, it was even more terrifying-it was a small girl, probably around eleven, holding a gun over a twenty year old boy's head. "You can either be with the government or with the rebels. You're promised protection on the government's side, but it doesn't matter if you're a newborn or dying in the hospital, as long as your heart beats you're given a gun."

"Uprising is a light way to put it. More like everybody's dead by morning if we don't do everything the rebels say. But, as you see, we have it under control." She gestured to the shaking boy in front of her. "All we have to do now is massacre the majority of the rebels, and then the others will fall under our command and we can restore harmony."
