"And dangerous," Maddie said quietly. Creepy skeleton hands and bloody claws were reaching out of the ground towards Maddie, tearing at her clothes.
"You could get her to do anything you want, Annabeth," Celeste said. "Not to mention she's scared of you."

Maddie pushed her hands against her ears, but it didn't block out any of the sounds. Raspy, angry voices hissed at her, insulting her horribly and giving her bad advice.

They kept getting louder and louder until Maddie finally crawled onto a rock, shaking, and they stopped. "...We should probably get out of here."
Celeste nodded. She was quiet, except for her soft humming when an Elvis Presley song came on the radio.
