Maddie spent most of the day in her room, and around the afternoon, she began sobbing.

"I just...I-I..." Maddie tried explaining it, but she could hardly breathe. She took a gasp of air, and muttered, "M-maybe this'll help..."
The lights dimmed, and everything was pitch black for a few moments.

"It's only for a moment," Maddie murmured, sounding a bit afraid herself. "Don't worry."
The lights came back on, and they were in a gigantic house that was probably better described as a mansion.
Maddie began running up the stairs, and gestured Annabeth to follow.

Annabeth frowned, and followed Maddie, but halfway up the stairs, her knee made a nasty popping sound, and she winced.

Maddie took Annabeth's hand, and helped her up the rest of the way. There was a man and a woman yelling at each other, and the woman looked uncannily like Maddie, except she was wearing lots of makeup.
"Just listen!" the woman yelled, mascara running down her face like she was crying.
"Why should I?!" The man shouted. "You never think of anyone but yourself!"
A little girl that looked about five was standing in the opposite doorway, watching the couple fight. Her blonde frizzy hair was in two ponytails, and she had bright green eyes. Tears were running down her face.

"Shh," Maddie whispered. "The flashback won't effect the future, but they can hear us."
The man flipped a table over at the woman, and walked away.
"Well, guess what?! I don't need you, anyway!" the woman screamed, sitting down on the couch sadly.
The little girl inched closer to the woman. "Mommy, are you okay?"
The woman glared at the little girl, and smacked her across the face without warning. "It's none of your business!"

"It gets worse," Maddie murmured.
"I'm sorry," the little girl said quickly, backing away.
"You should be!" the woman yelled.
The small child quickly ran away.
The scene changed, and they were at a school building. Maddie's eyes widened, like she hadn't expected this scene.

"I didn't want this one," Maddie muttered angrily. "I hate this one."
This time, the little girl was about ten, and an older boy was looming over her, laughing, holding a tray full of food. "Try to get it, Stray Cat!"
"This isn't bloody funny anymore!" the little girl cried angrily, desperately trying to get her lunch. "Just give it back!"
The boy laughed, and threw the lunch on the ground, stomping it. The girl's eyes became watery, and he hit her, laughing. All the other kids were laughing.

The girl suddenly grabbed the boy's throat, and wrestled him to the ground. The laughter stopped.
"Stop it!" a kid shouted. "You're going to kill him!"
The girl kept squeezing his throat until the boy went limp. She got off of him, then froze, realizing what she had done. She took off in a sprint, as everyone jeered and threw food at her.

Suddenly, they were back in Maddie's room, and Maddie was sobbing.
