Another hunter interrupted. "Annabeth, you have to stay." This particular hunter seemed to be capable of charmspeak, too, because Annabeth looked torn between two decisions.

Maddie frowned. Uh-oh, she thought. She hoped Aphrodite was watching right now or something. Then she hoped Aphrodite WASN'T, because if she was, she would definitely make Maddie fail.
"No, Annabeth, come back to camp. I need you here." Maddie said, trying hard to do her very best charmspeak.

"Annabeth, don't listen to her." The hunter said. "You came here for a reason. If you went back, you'd never get away from boys."

"Then stay here." The hunter said.
"But... what about camp?" Annabeth asked.
"You want to avoid boys, so why should you go back?" The hunter asked. She looked at Maddie. "She doesn't want to be surrounded by boys anymore. You know what? We'll visit your camp. Annabeth can make her decision there."
