The hermit crab just told about some new things to me. He/she said something about digging holes might increase your chances lf finding items so we should give our bunnies more hazelnut branches. Is the digging they do in races what he/she was talking about? Or is this an old feature that isn't around anymore?

You/the hermit crab are correct! If you look at the results of a race (the "podium" page, example linked below)
https://www.bunnyrace.com/course/resultat/1135342
you'll see that next to Riley's name is the items she dug up during the race! In this case, an Apple and a Cotton-woven glove (: Every time your bunny digs in a race you'll get an item, but a maximum of three.

I don't think she dug in that race. But I guess I see now.
