Celeste let out a sigh. "He's kind of scary, to be honest."
"What do you mean?" Maddie asked.
"It's almost like he wants to hurt us."
"He probably does. But he won't, because..." Maddie paused. "Well, he's involved with some law enforcement stuff now, and he can't have any criminal records."
"Law enforcement?" Celeste perked up. "Charlie has a job? What is he? A lawyer? A judge? A police officer? A-"
"I don't think he wants to talk about it..." Maddie said awkwardly.
