Annabeth didn't move, even after Maddie left. She thought about what Maddie said about opening the locket for Percy's safety, and about Zeus's plan to hurt Percy somehow.

Maddie laid on her bed, touching the locket. Would she open it for Percy? Yes. Of course she would. Maddie wanted to take the locket off because it was itching her, but she never took it off. EVER. Her father forbid her from ever taking it off in camp, even if she was in her cabin. And Maddie knew why.

She sighed and took a risk by putting her whole fist around the heart. She was glad it didn't electrocute her, instead it made her feel a warm glow.

Maddie heard rain plop on her roof. She wanted to go say hi to Leo, but she wasn't in the mood. Plus, she was pretty sure Leo thought she was weird, which was the awful truth. Maddie closed her eyes and thought about her childhood. It was all perfect back then. Her father would always hug her....tell her Maddie's mother was on a business trip, and that's why she couldn't visit. He would always make Maddie nice bracelets and amulets in his little shop, and that's where her locket came from. Locket. Maddie sighed. She wished she didn't need it. But the truth was she did.

Annabeth layed down on the bed. She pulled the blankets over her, and cried. No, she sobbed. She wished none of this had happened to Percy. She wished he would remember her, the camp, and his past life. He had survived the second Titan War, and everything was supposed to be normal. But it wasn't normal. Zeus wanted to kill him now, and Maddie might risk something to save him.

Maddie finally fell asleep, and she had a weird dream. Percy, Annabeth, Leo, and Maddie were all in the forest, fighting Zeus. Percy collapsed to the ground.
"Percy!" Annabeth cried.
Maddie fell to the ground and opened the locket. Bright lights shone everywhere, blinding everyone that had their eyes open.
"Maddie! Maddie! Maddie! Maddie! Maddie! Maddie!" Leo's voice echoed, fading away.
Maddie woke up gasping.

Annabeth had the same dream, except Leo and Maddie weren't there. She saw Percy fall to the ground, completely limp. She ran to him, and tried to wake him up, but it was too late. She woke up with a jolt. "Percy!"
