Maddie grinned. "Tommy!"
"I told you to call me Thomas!" the boy snapped, running his fingers through his dark hair angrily.

"My boyfriend Leo, and my best friend Annabeth," Maddie said. "Guys, this is Tommy, and let's just say we're cousins because explaining how we're related is really hard."
"I'll stab you to death if you call me Tommy one more time, sweetie," Thomas said.
"Gods, Tommy, somebody is in a bad mood," Maddie smiled.
"Why must you be so passive aggressive?" Thomas muttered.

Maddie pushed past Thomas and came inside anyway. "Where's dad?"
"Oh, he took an arrow to the knee," Thomas said.
Maddie turned around. "Did you just make a Skyrim reference?!"

A girl with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes who looked about seventeen walked down the stairs. "Thomas, how do you beat the forty fifth level of-" She stopped when she saw Annabeth and Leo, and she started gasping and jumping up and down. "Oh my gods, it's them! Thomas, they look just like the characters in Heroes of Olympus!"
Thomas rolled his eyes. "Will you ever stop obsessing over that? Seriously, get over it."
"But I swear they do!" The girl cried. "You have to believe me!"
