Madeline held Leo's hand until they got back to where Hermes's cage was, and her eyes widened.
"Oh, gods," Chris muttered.
Charlie, Christiana, and Maddie were all covered in blood, and it was hard to tell if it was their own or somebody else's. Charlie was trying to fight two men and some guy kept trying to pin Maddie up against a tree, who was yelling and trying to hit him. Christiana seemed terrified, trembling and gasping.

Annabeth looked down, thinking for a moment. She realized they were close enough to camp that she could grab the Golden Fleece and get it back to Maddie quick enough. Without second guessing herself, she took off running. She returned very quickly, covering Maddie with the Fleece.
