In the morning, Annabeth walked around in the woods, thinking. All of a sudden, she found herself being pulled into the river by a mangled hand. She gasped, and began thrashing around as the hand dragged her into the water.
"But you're the best one I've ever had," Leo said.

Twilight barked loudly and angrily at the hand, and tried to bite it.
"What's makes me so great?" Maddie said.

The hand appeared to be resistant to the bites, and it eventually pulled Annabeth underwater.

Celeste gasped, and tried to pull Annabeth out.
Maddie hugged Leo back. Her face was pale from fear, but also almost tinted green in a sickly way. Even though she had already slept a few hours ago, she fell asleep.
