Charlie glared at Leo. "You don't need to know that."
"Charlie," Harry said, "she's a daughter of Hades. Tartarus is in the Underworld."
"...Then that'll make it interesting, won't it?" Charlie said.
"I know," Celeste said. "And it's not safe for Amelia to be around her."

"You're not getting a fricking answer, okay?!" Charlie screamed, looking like he lost it.
"...My gods, bloody temper tantrum," Maddie muttered.
"Everybody shut up and follow me or you'll be shot," Harry said angrily, and began walking to the Underworld, tugging Maddie along.
"It's better than her being dead," Celeste said quietly.

"We're coming for her after you two are dead, which won't be long," Charlie snapped, forcing Leo to move with his gun.
After a while they got to the Underworld, and to the part where Tartarus was. Maddie felt like she was going to vomit.
"I'll tell her with you, if you want," Celeste said quietly.

"Now," Charlie said, "who's going first?"
"Me, I guess," Maddie muttered. She stood at the edge for a few moments, thinking about the time she jumped off the edge of that two story building and broke both her legs.
"Sometime today," Charlie snapped.
Maddie finally jumped off the edge, and her horrible gasping echoed against the walls.
"Where is she?" Celeste held Annabeth's hand.

Maddie was falling a few feet below Leo still gasping, her face dangerously pale.
"Let's send her an Iris-message, then," Celeste suggested.

Leo fell after Maddie, worrying about her.
Annabeth nodded, and sent Amelia an iris-message. Amelia could be seen sitting by the river in the woods, just watching the water go by.

Maddie tried to stop gasping, realizing it was going to make her pass out. She tried to say something to Leo, but it was impossible to hear with all the wind whistling next to their ears, so she gave up and reached for his hand.
"Hey, Amelia," Celeste said.

Maddie felt like they were falling forever, but didn't really have a clue how long it really was. She remembered Annabeth saying something about nine days. Or was it a week? Her thoughts were jumbled, and it wasn't helping that she kept losing consciousness every ten minutes. Finally, Maddie saw the ground in the distance, and she tried to remember everything she thought she knew about Tartarus.
"Annabeth and I heard you were hanging out with Christiana," Celeste said, sounding slightly uncomfortable.

Maddie finally fell into a river, and thought, It's unnatural for a river to be in the middle of Tartarus...
She then found her head filled with miserable voices, telling her it's hopeless.
"You know she's kind of...off, right?" Celeste said.

"I kinda like her," Amelia said. Her face turned red. "As a friend, of course."

Maddie kept sinking until she felt like her lungs were going to burst. Then she remembered the stories of Annabeth and Percy, how they fell into the river...what was the river's name? Her problems with ADHD weren't important right now. Maddie desperately swam to the top and shouted, "Leo!"
Celeste frowned. "She's not right in the head, Amelia."

Maddie reached into the river and tried tugged Leo out, the voices still shouting at her to stop. She couldn't let Leo drown. "Leo, it's Maddie!"
"She seems fine now," Celeste muttered. "Don't hang out with her anymore."
