Maddie's eyes widened. "Olympus sounds worse than the underworld."

"Unfortunately, she no longer believes people won't leave her," Elisa said. "Which, sadly, is probably true. I wanted to be her friend, but she scares me way too much. Plus, I think she hates me. She actually told me 'I hate you'. But she hates everyone, so I guess it's not personal."

"...I don't know," Maddie said. "I never trusted a friend like her, and when I start thinking why I like her...it just feels weird. I start thinking back to all the friends that I trusted and then they just betrayed me, and I start wondering why I even try to make friends in the first place. That's why I don't like thinking about it. It ruins the feeling that someone on this planet might be trustworthy."
