Maddie opened her mouth to speak, but then the wave splashed on the boat. It turned upside down. Maddie's eyes widened as a piece of the boat hit her in the forehead. Her head immediately began bleeding, and she could see swirls of red and she floated in the water.

Leo grabbed Maddie's arm, and tried to stay afloat. He got Maddie to the surface of the water, and he looked around for Annabeth. He didn't see her anywhere, which made him nervous.

Maddie shrugged, and took out a piece of candy, which looked kind of pathetic in the middle of the gigantic storm. She opened the wrapper and tried to eat it, but the wind tore the candy out her hand. She sighed, looking frustrated.
