Eli put his hand up, blocking her kiss. "Enough Annabeth, the affection your pretending to have for me is not real. The more you make yourself think you love me, the more annoyance I begin to grow... and my patience with this kiss you try giving me is growing thin as well..." Eli kept his eyes closed as he said this, his eyebrows were narrowed in irritation.

When Eli opened his eyes they were a red golden color, he breathed a few times and they were back to their normal grey color. "You understand now...?" Eli's body faded into a shadow, then in the next moment he vaporized into the air, leaving and going back to the Underworld.
