If I remember right, I think you have to use the crystals you have, not the "cash" it shows. It's giving me the same error and it's been a while since I've bought anything with the crystals, but I think it's the "crystals" amount at the top that you can spend, since I've given over 400 crystals and I still can't buy anything.
So if you give crystals, you can't spend those, it just unlocks more items.

its just an error code it just means that there was nothing for u to purchase with.

and yes, whatever crystals are "cashed" you cannot spend, so unless u want to keep unlocking more items, do not "give" any crystals.
