This is a role play based on the Horizon series by Scott Westerfield and other authors. You don't have to read the series, but it would help if you did. And of course, I recommend this series to you.

Introduction:

You and your friends from Team Killbot are on board Aero 6000, flying to the United States for the robot competition finals. While flying over the Arctic, a blinding light suddenly fills the plane, and you can't see anything. You don't even hear anything. Just for a few moments, you feel as if the light is around you. Then it moves off. Was it a creature? You can't think. Your brain is hurting, but you don't know why either. Finally, the light goes away, but it isn't over. To your horror, the plane's wing has broken off! You brace yourself as the plane tips downwards...

The plane jerks to a stop. Thankfully, you can feel your whole body. Then you scramble out of the plane, and stop. What was supposed to be ice that stretched on for miles turned out to be trees. Trees, grass and - well, a jungle. You'd crashed in a jungle. Impossible, you think. You walk around just to make sure it was real. Yes, you could feel the solid ground under your shoes. You shake your head, rubbing your eyes. This couldn't be a dream. It was all real. You look around for your friends and find that they are all safe. But what about the other 500 passengers on board? They had all disappeared without a trace, except for a few other people. The light, you remember. You ask your friends about it. They say they've all felt it. Was it... testing you? Was that why your brain hurt? What about the other passengers? And most importantly... Where were you? And how do you get out of here?

So basically, your main role in this RP is to survive the "jungle". I know it goes differently in the actual story, but I'll take a few details from it. You will start from after your first few days in the "jungle", so you will know everyone who survived and you will have built a fire, and made use of the plane as sort of a place to sleep. You've also found a source of water, and managed to learn to lure birds, catch them and eat them. Now these are some things that don't make sense, but are included in the story: You found a device which can defy gravity. There are vines which try to catch you. There are birds which try to shred you into pieces. And there is this mysterious creature which makes scary sounds at night - and you want to try to avoid it. Of course there are names for these stuff, so unless you don't want to name anything, you can tell me and I'll list the names out.

Rules:
-Swearing and cursing allowed but please put "*".
-Be respectful.
-Have enough detail about your character so other players understand them.
-Try your best to use proper English.
-Role play in 3rd person.
-Follow along with the plot, please do not suddenly change the plot or anything.

Your character:

If you need any help with your form, don't be afraid to ask! I will accept your form as soon as possible if it's fine.

Name: Gideon Forrester
Gender: M
Age: 12
Personality: Gideon is an outgoing, energetic and active boy. He is quite friendly but tends to get angry if he feels anyone is rejecting his plans, ideas or suggestions. He sometimes misunderstands what others are implying. He is also logical and sort of brainy, which is why he believes his ideas work. His mother is loving and takes care of him and Lena, who is eight and very brave, along with the help of Gideon’s grandmother. Gideon loves his sister very much, and teaches her almost everything he knows.

I think we can start first.

Gideon awoke in his room. Actually, it wasn’t a room. Just a wooden shelter and some comfort. He yawned as he recalled what had happened. Plane crash. Weird animals. No way of getting out of here. He pushed away that last thought. Now wasn’t the time to get negative, or angry. Gideon slowly walked out, wondering if the others were awake already.

Val had always been an early riser, so she had woken just after sunrise to tend to the fire. She turned around with an armful of branches to see Gideon. "Morning," she said with a forced half-smile.

"Hey," Gideon waved upon seeing Val. She seemed to be gathering some branches for the fire. He didn't notice her forced smile. He looked around as usual, scanning the area, or what they called "camp", for any abnormal creatures. Honestly, now that he thought of it, there weren't any "normal" creatures around. Except their little group. Gideon turned to Val. "Do you think we should move on today? Explore this jungle and find a way out?" That was their ultimate goal. Gideon added, "I'll go get some water from the waterfall later too."

(The waterfall is their source of water).

Val looked around too. The lack of animals close by meant that this place had one less danger but also one less food source. "I definitely think we should explore," she finally replied. With that, she added her wood to the fire and moved towards the outskirts of their camp to check the traps.

Gideon nodded. He was getting to know Val a little better. At least she had the wits to go out and explore, unlike the giggly girls he met at school. "Right. So we pack up and leave before dawn. I'll be at the waterfall." He grabbed their canteens and some tools in case he was attacked, and walked off.

Gideon followed the usual path to the waterfall, arriving at the somehow less noisy body of water. It wasn't very loud, like, say, the Niagara Falls he had heard of. This waterfall didn't scream the earbuds out of him. Which was good, anyway, as he thought what they weren't have been able to hear if it was roaring. Gideon knelt down at the edge of the water and refilled the canteens. He got up to go. Turning around, he was only to be greeted by the sight of purple vines that blocked his path.

"Oh my god," Gideon sucked in a sharp breath. His heart instantly picked up speed. The vines moved closer towards him. What the heck are those things?! He thought, backing away from the monstrous snakes. To be honest, he wasn't sure what they were at all. He could only hope that if they were actually snakes, they weren't poisonous. Gideon fumbled for his weapons. Anything that could save him now were weapons. His fingers landed upon a knife. The one that they used to hack through the undergrowth while finding a way here. He sure hoped that worked on the vines. If not, he realised, he would be forced into the water. Not that any of them knew how deep it was. Gideon held the knife as firmly as he could, and swiped it at the nearest vine. It left a mark but apart from that it didn't seem to work. No no no no! Gideon panicked. RUN! His mind screamed. Gideon raced through the gap between the vines and the water towards his left. His legs pumping, he ran through the trees without slowing down. He cursed the heavy water canteens weighing him down. A moment later, he stopped and whirled around to check if the vines were following him. Nope. No purple thing crashing through the trees. Vines didn't move that fast. At least that was something in common the vine had with the vines on Earth, if this wasn't Earth. Gideon thought so. Earth definitely did not have purple vines. Catching his breath, he realised he was kind of lost. He didn't want to go back to the vines again. Maybe there was some other way back to the camp? Gideon glanced at the canteens which were now half-full as a result of him spilling the water while running. Well, maybe he could go tomorrow. He wanted to be back at camp before dawn. He shuddered as he tried not to think about what creatures he might encounter at night. Especially that howling thing. Gideon shook his head violently and with his knife at ready, he slowly began to find a way back to camp.

"Mhm," Val said in affirmation. She continued towards the traps and checked each one. Out of the five they had set up, one had something in it. A still-breathing something. A bird that was struggling with all its might to break free of the snare and dive at Val's throat. Val paused, unsure of how to go about this situation. She decided on trying to stab it with her knife. She did it as carefully as she could, trying to cause the least amount of damage to the net and the meat. She succeeded in slitting its throat, and it stopped moving. With that, she made her way back to the fire to smoke it. Once it was on the spit, she dismantled a few of the traps. That way if they found a better campsite, she could set them back up. And if they didn't, she wouldn't have to set all of them back up again.

Gideon stopped for a while, wiping the sweat on his brow. It had been about an hour now, he guessed, and he still hadn’t found camp. He was sure he wasn’t that far from it. Glancing at the sun beginning to descend, Gideon felt a little worried. Then he gripped his knife harder and continued finding his way. In any case, he wasn’t ready to give up.

Val sat down at the camp to get everything organized. She expected to see Gideon sitting there too, and she was surprised when he wasn't. Hadn't he said that he was just going to get water? Did he decide to ditch her? That was unlikely; she didn't know Gideon very well, but Val knew enough to know that he wouldn't do that without at least saying goodbye. More likely, he got attacked by a wild animal, maybe even one of those birds that she had caught in her snare. In that case, she should probably go looking for him. There was a chance that he was injured by the waterfall, and he needed immediate medical attention. Val decided to set off, preparing herself for the possibility that she might find a corpse. She grabbed the first aid kit off the plane and her knife and headed towards the direction of the waterfall, calling Gideon's name every few seconds.

Amy sat up thrashing. This latest nightmare was about the crash again. She quickly collected herself and her stuff, especially George the stuffed sock. Taking inventory, she realized the camp was quiet. Too quiet.

"Val? Gideon?" she called quietly. No answer. She should have known this would happen. Of course they would leave her! That was what everyone did. Either way, she would find them.

Walking bravely out of the camp, gathering courage every step, she wielded her hairbrush in one hand and the wooden spoon in the other, George in her mother's coat pocket.

This was when she heard a strange noise in the camp. Without looking, she ran forward, dodging trees, not looking back. Eventually, the noise faded and she slowed down, shoving her hairbrush into the pocket with George, feeling the sharp keys prick her forefinger. She stopped and sucked on it, scolding herself for being so foolish.

She heard a sudden, very loud and close noise behind her. Gripping the wooden spoon tighter, she turned around with her finger still in her mouth. She saw a colorful bird there in front of her on the ground, squawking at her. She lowered the spoon, laughing at herself. Crouching, she reached out to the bird.

"Hey, little guy," she said gently. Examining it, she noticed its wing was bent at an odd angle. It was a broken bird. She gently stroked its wing. The bird snapped at her with its beak, nearly taking her finger off, but Amy just laughed, picking it up. It already trusted her more than George did. "I'll name you.... Horace." She gently placed it on her shoulder.

Amy climbed a tree then, knowing she was hopelessly lost and would never find Val or Gideon in the woods. She knew her best bet was to find camp. At the first level branch she found, she took a nap, Horace resting next to her head and George on her chest, wooden spoon as a pillow.

Gideon was beginning to lose hope. He’d probably cleared a million trees by now, and it was surprising none of the animals in the trees seemed to mind. His knife was blunt by now too. For once, Gideon missed his sister and family badly. He wanted to see them again, if they could get out alive. Suddenly, Gideon heard the sound of the waterfall in the distance. Oops, he thought. Not the vines again. But he couldn’t stop himself from being relieved that he was near camp. He pushed the nearest tree aside and — “Hey!” He heard a sound from above. Thankfully it sounded human. Looking up, Gideon realized it was Amy! “Amy!” He called up the tree.

"Gideon!" Amy called down to him, leaning over the edge of the branch and dropping George in the process. "George!" she yelled. Amy reached out to catch him, but reached too far and fell, landing on her back.

'I'm gonna die,' she thought, squeezing her eyes shut. She couldn't breathe with the wind knocked out of her. She croaked out, "Bury me with George." Suddenly, she sat right up. "Where did Horace go?"

Gideon watched as Amy’s stuffed toy dropped from the tree. He stepped aside to avoid being conked on the head, then looked up again to see Amy falling from the tree. She landed beside him, but luckily the branch was low and Amy didn’t seem to suffer any injuries. However, she thought so, and croaked out a few words about burying her. Then, surprisingly, she sat up. “Where did Horace go?” She said. “Horace? Who is that?” Gideon hoped that it was somebody who came to rescue them.

Val's voice was hoarse by the time she reached the waterfall. "Gid-" she began to keep yelling when she saw them. Purple-ish vines hung near her. This fact alone didn't scare her. It was the face that they were getting closer that made her retreat quickly. But then Val stopped herself. What if this is what happened to Gideon? He might be up in the trees somewhere. Maybe the vines were just being friendly and trying to take her up to him. "Hey there, um, vines," she tried saying, but they only got closer. "Gideon," she yelled up at the trees, though with the condition of her voice, it was more of a scream, "Gideon, are you up there?" No reply, and the vines kept getting closer. A small tendril was close enough to curl around her wrist. It was gentle at first, but it quickly began to squeeze tightly and attempt to pull her towards the other vines. Reacting quickly, Val took the knife in her other hand and began to hack at the small vine. It gradually began to fray, but the larger vines were closing in fast. She began cutting and pulling with all her might at the small vine, for this had suddenly become a life-or-death struggle. With a snap she pulled free. The vines reached out for her as she ran, but in a stroke of luck, none were able to get a hold on her.

Val didn't realize that she had strayed from the path back to camp until she found herself in a strange clearing of trees, panting for breath. Then, she heard voices. Familiar voices. She broke into a sprint again and stopped herself short of tackling Gideon to the ground. "Putain merde! I thought you were dead!" she cried, circling him in a bear hug.

Amy squealed and tackled Val, but soon pulled away to look around worriedly.

"Gideon! Val! Help me find Horace!" she commanded. Then she realized that they probably didn't know who Horace was. "He's this little bird I found with a broken wing. He won't survive on his own!"

Gideon smiled as Val hugged him. It reminded him a little of his sister. Then Amy told him to find Horace, a little bird. Gideon’s heart sank. Not a rescuer after all, he thought gloomily. He felt frustration brewing in him. Unable to control his voice, he said, “Why is Horace so important? It’s us who needs help! Worst of all, he might just be tricking us!” Gideon saw the hurt look on Amy. He wanted to say sorry, but he knew he couldn’t just turn around like that. He still needed them to realize that Horace wasn’t their priority yet.

Val let out a small sigh. She hated that she had to say it, but she crouched down and spoke anyway, "Amy, we can't go looking for your bird. We need to focus on taking care of ourselves, okay?" She was trying for a calm, soothing voice. Despite her many younger siblings, Val had never been very good with kids. She didn't know what she was coming off as, but she hoped it was at least convincing. They couldn't afford to satisfy a child's fickle desires, which is what Val assumed this was.
